Between
The Horns

10 years ago I witnessed what I thought I'd never
see again. A Miami coach hitting someone on the field of play. That's
right I was right there in the student section when a OU Marching
110 band member decided to tackle a Miami player launching a lot
of pushing and shoving as the band tried to get off the field (which
included trampling the visitors bench). Yea, it was induced by someone
from OU but that's not the point.
I've waited a week to cool down over last weeks incident
before writing anything in the heat of the moment. Fan or no fan
there is absolutely no reason for a coach to ever hit anyone PERIOD.
This story is beat to death already. All accounts (outside of the
J Crew U staff) concur that the fan didn't even see it coming. And
the story goes on and on and on. Fans on the field. Kayo's response
to Miami's "it's not our fault crap."
Hey - Miami has done this so many times it's sickening
to me. Marshall should call for them to be banned from the MAC.
Ask OU and Akron - they'll tell ya. But of course that will never
work because they are the beloved children of the MAC. Don't believe
me? Who was walkin' Coach HoppyMad off the field last Tuesday? Anybody
got video? Sickening. But it was interference - insert picture -
waaaaaaaaaah! Eat crow and shut up.
Anybody see HoppyMad trash his headset? Hey uh - I
think that belongs to us too. I wonder if HoppyMad was smashing
his headset while the pressbox was being torn up. Hey, KISS did
less damage to the Holiday Inn in the 70's than the J Crew U did
to the pressbox. No excuse - none - no if's, and's or but's. Exoneration
- I think not. High standards non-existant.
Yeah, they wrote us a check - so what. What about
the "high standards" Coach HoppyMad holds his players
and coaches to at J Crew U? I bet they all practice the Limbo to
meet those standards. Somebody get me some congas.
Oh by the way. Where the heck is the NCAA Blue Dot
of Sanctions right now? There's not even an investigation in the
works that I know of. Chryst - get off your leather chair and find
out what happened from the people who saw it all....Marshall or
Not. Kayo!!!!!
Now about this fans on the field business. Official
rules state that no fans are allowed on the field of play. Official
rules also state that ASSAULT is prohibited (at least in Huntington
- Oxford rules do not apply). If someone is illegally parked and
gets out of the car, does that mean we can all go clock him? Don't
think so. Marshall's security? Same as it always is, protecting
the facilities building. Parading the Jailbird around? - Nope. Where's
the squad car it's on the east ramp...no it's on the west ramp.
That's what happened on the radios when trying to get the Jailbird
off the field. Someone moved the squad car.
That being said, show me any amount of security that
can keep 35,000 fans off anything. Oh wait, there were only about
500 and they were 45 yards away from the incident as the Jailbirds
left the field.
So to Miami coaches - put this between your horns
- YOU LOST a really good football game. Miami players keep your
heads up you played an incredible game against a huge number of
unknowns. Perhaps you should set the standards for your coaches.
By the way, tell them that the game is played on the green field
with the white dashes and not on the white screen with http:// on
it. Internet threats? You gotta be kiddin' me. The gas prices went
up on Tuesday but only for the Miami bus...I reckon that's Marshall's
fault too.
