Aug 15, 2001 - Conspiracy Theory . Here we go.. for months this
rumor has been floating around, people are speculating and theorizing.
Then Ernie from the Herald Discrace puts down all C-USA theories
(why, I don't know. Maybe Marshall owns him). Then... we get a home
and home deal with Tennessee.... then we update our logo.... we're
also supposed to add a second tier to the East side of the stadium
in 2002! What's going on here?

Assuming you are correct,
that the NCAA will shake up 1-A with qualification restrictions in a few
years, then why move to a new conference now? Why not stay and GET PAID
to join one of the floundering large conferences later cause we are a
big fish in a little pond by then? That's the bet for now, stay put and
wait for the NCAA to make it too good of a deal to pass up, like maybe
a move to the SEC or ACC to fill one of their spots (I figure the SEC
will lose a couple of teams, maybe UK included, to the Big East and/or
the ACC). As for the rest of your predictions, always believe what you
hear from Don Salvatore, remember the old addage, "Never bet against a
Sicilian," Ernie's close enough.

Well I do think that
it is time that Marshall leaves the MAC. I personally am tired of all
the fans in the MAC not supporting there teams. I grew up in Huntington
and went to 3 of the 4 championship games. I found it pitiful that Western
Michigan did not bring many fans with them.
So what I am hoping for is Marshall does go to the CUSA and get the exposure
on TV that we deserve. Then who will the MAC mooch off of then?.
