Wants Out Already. I found this story posted on TheHerdSportsPage.com.
"He wants to double the athletic budget. He wants to start
building a 12,000-seat basketball arena. He wants his teams playing
in either the SEC or the ACC. And, eventually, he wants to see an
on-campus football stadium." UCF has yet to play a single game
in the MAC and they're already talking about leaving, not good press
in my opinion after the comments about the competition of the MAC
made by their football coach. Click

Opinion: June 25, 2002 - Baylor?
"Marshall should try talking to Baylor about a Sept. 28
football game.I think they are open that week. This would also give
The Herd a good chance at beating a Big XII team." Thanks to

-- and folks in West Virginia are hearing about it." Click

Rumor: June 19, 2002 - UC,
UofL & ESPN. I found this link on the HerdSportsPage.com
message board. "Ron posted on the premium board that UL, UC
and ESPN are pushing hard for Marshall to join CUSA. Evidently,
Marshall wants the football only membership and they are looking
to join the Southern Conference for all other sports. It appears
that this could happen very soon. I kinda doubt it would be this
year though. That practically seems impossible with scheduling and
all. But 2003 seems reasonable." Click

Rumor: June 19, 2002 - Running
Back. "i have herd thru a team member about a running back
who signed with miami of fla last feb. who is in huntington going
thru summer workouts with the team. this is rb/lb we just signed
from va - apparently there is some chat on the miami boards questioning
where he is right now." Thanks to < daherd> for this

Rumor: June 18, 2002 - Marshall
vs Colorado? "San Diego State plays at Colorado Sept. 7th
but wants out of the game. A local San Diego radio station said
last week that Marshall might be interested in taking that game.
Any news like that back there?" Thanks to < LA Aztec >

Opinion: June 17, 2002 - Future
Reference. "Not only is the UCF coach throwing smack our
way, this comes from the sports editor of the Columbus DISPATCH.
Replying to a letter which complained about OSU's future schedule,
the editor (Danny Goodwin) replied: "Regarding OSU's non-conference
schedules, there is only one team (Washington, 2003) on the schedule
the next three years that is a perennial top-25 team, although N.C.
State (2003, 2004) isn't bad." Something else to store away for
future reference..." Thanks to < Dennis Fravel > for

BS! This was was posted on Lets-Go-Herd.com
by Florida Herd Fan about an article from USA Today... about the
BCS and their Monopolistic hold on 1-A football. Here's part of
the article. "The leagues - the Atlantic Coast, Big East, Big
Ten, Big 12, Pacific 10 and Southeastern - are insistent on keeping
control of the postseason and not ceding it to the NCAA, Tranghese
added." They like the idea of virtually all the revenue going
back to the member schools," he said, as opposed to the NCAA-wide
sharing of revenue from the association's lucrative Division I men's
basketball tournament."If you think this is wrong... voice

Opinion: June 14, 2002 - BCS
Bias. "I love the fact that collegefootballnew.com featured
a big article on us today. Also I love the fact that enough HERD
fans e-mailed and complained to the site about us not being in their
TOP 25. AND yes they did give us some respect on offense, but the
way they talked are defense is going to be the worst in NCAA. Also
I love the fact that no matter what...your confrence makes your
team. WVU could go 5-7 and get a better bowl than us! Marshall needs
to switch to a new confrence or just go independant. The MAC is
holding us back in the eyes of everyone in our state as well as
every other college football lover out there! What do we have to
look forward to every year???? Going 11-1 or 12-0 and playing a
C-USA team that is 6-6 and thats about it really......THINK ABOUT
IT!!! This article makes some real good since check
it out:" Thanks to < FEELtheTHUNDER > for this opinion.

Comment: June 14, 2002 - Big
Talk. "Hey herd fans, I thought all herd fans need to read
this article from the Florida-Times And Union newspaper in Jacksonville,
Florida. Trust me many of the Florida residents have great respect
for Marshall. But it seems UCF and their want-a-be coach doesn't.
He has no respect for Marshall nor the MAC Conference. Please send
this to all the MAC reps, especially Marshalls staff and players.
UCF really wanted to fuel the fire. WE ARE MARSHALL!!!!!! GO HERD!!!!"
"I'm a very confident guy, and I think we can be undefeated.
I know we can do it in the MAC conference," Kruczek said. "Winning
the conference championship is something we think we can do. We're
11-4 against MAC teams since 1996. That's a pretty good indicator
about where we fit competitively in this conference." Click

Rumor: June 12, 2002 - Patiently

days." Well, it's 14 days later... and we're all waiting. I

Opinion: June 11, 2002 - Home
& Home Series. "Marshall should cease trying to schedule
WVU unless WVU is willing to play a home and home series (1 for
1). Why should we help them out? After all, who has been rated the
most in the top 25 the last six years? Who has had the most Heisman
Trophy candidates in the last six years? A two for one or three
for one schedule is a sell out! With that being said, our new athletic
director Bob Marcum needs to start providing a good home schedule.
This years schedule at home is terrible. A good home schedule will
provide larger crowds and more interest. One sure way is to join
a better conference." Thanks to < Anonymous > for this

Opinion: June 10, 2002 - Here's
An Opening! "I was on street and smith's web site, which
has marshall at 24. i was looking at team schedules and noticed
ole miss has a open date for sept 28, they already have 12 scheduled;
but teams can play as many as 13. it is my opinion, that marshall
should try to work out a game with ole miss, which is a preseason
top 25. it would be a great qb matchup with leftwich and manning,
a nice heisman hype." Thanks to < HerdFan11 > for this

Link: June 10, 2002 - Give
Us The Game! I found this link posted on theHerdSportsPage.com.
The actual article is from The
Register-Herald. "That particular game is not for me. We
don't need West Virginia to make our program, and they certainly
don't need us," Pruett said. "What we do need it for is
for the fans and the students at the schools, and the excitement
and the revenue." Click

Rumor: June 7, 2002 - Bama
Bowl. "I just read an article that states that Alabama
is looking to fill their 12th game this season with a November 30
date at Hawaii. Since they can not go to a bowl, they want to send
the kids to Hawaii. There goes the matchup with the Herd that Landon
was talking about.." Thanks to < Mark > for this rumor.

Comment: June 6, 2002 - It's
Slooow Today. I found this very interesting post on a C-USA
board. "If Marshall was in C-USA this year, where do you think
they'd finish? I'm thinking around 3rd or 4th. Similar to Cincy
with a good offense and questionable defense. I think they'd have
trouble with Louisville, USM, and TCU, who tend to play ball-control
offense and smash-mouth defense. Memphis would be similar, but I'd
give the herd the nod in that game. I think the herd would outscore
Cincy, and obviously ECU. Marshall would easily handle Tulane, Houston,
Army, and UAB. What does everyone else think?" Click

Comment: June 3, 2002 - Response
From Dan Angel. I sent President Angel an e-mail stating why
I think there should be a Home and Home series with WVU. Here is
his response (short and sweet). "Marshall would be willing
to play a home and home series. - Dan Angel" I might also add
that I sent the same email to President Hardesty, I have yet to
receive a response from him. Thanks to < Anonymous > for this
