Comment: May 28, 2002 - Herd
Steals WVU Thunder. From the Dominion Post. "Marshall is
headline news and WVU is, well, news people aren't doing back flips
and somersaults over. This could be the perfect time to rehash the
old issue of another big-name school playing at Marshall and WVU
not being one of them. In the next 10 years, the Thundering Herd
is set to play Miami, Tennessee, Virginia Tech, Ohio State, Georgia
and Wisconsin. Tennessee plans to play in Huntington as well. This
is not worth going on a tangent about because the issue is not only
old, but also tired. Who wants to keep repeating something over
and over that will only be resolved on the field?" Click

Opinion: May 28, 2002 - Slowly
But Surely. "Has anyone really noticed how quietly our
own "MU" has begun slowly but surely "beefing"
up our schedule. Please dont give me this crap about attendance.
If you win , they will come. The MAC was fine in its time. Now its
time to GO; and please dont relagate our other sports to the lowly
Southern Conf. This 89 alum is proud of his school. GOOOOOOOOOOOO
HEEERRRDDD!!!" Thanks to < Dave

Opinion: May 24, 2002 - Kayo.
"The biggest challenge to "Kayo"Marcum will continue
to be ATTENDANCE. Sellouts will lead to greater revenues...new conference
opportunities even BETTER than C-USA...even more TV appearances...improvement
of "minor" sports (maybe a new baseball field?)...and,
most importantly, the notion that MU is "big time". 22,000
vs. Akron just won't do that, nor will a 10% discount for early
purchases significantly increase attendance. I once went to a game
at Indiana University and paid $10 for end zone seats. Why can't
we do that at Marshall? Those people might well become season ticket
holders in the future. Perception is reality, and empty seats at
Marshall indicates that perhaps the MAC (and the Herd) are not worthy
of BCS inclusion. After all...unempty seats are the ONLIEST kind
of seats for MEEEEEEEEEEE!" Thanks to < Dennis Fravel >

Rumor: May 24, 2002 - Showdown.
"Early season showdown in 2002. The Alabama game will NOT get
the certification from the NCAA, but look for Marshall to hook up
with a Top 10 preseason team in early August in a game benefiting
the 9/11 Foundation." Thanks to < Anonymous > for this

Rumor: May 23, 2002 - Canes.
"Check this out herd fans. Rumor around the Big Green committee
is that Marshall just closed the deal with the Miami Hurricanes
to play 2 for 1. The first game comes in 2004 at Miami. This is
pretty reliable info so expect it to be published in the next 2
weeks. Also heard some great things about this Juco transfer QB
that is coming in, could he be MU's next superstar? GO HERD!"

Opinion: May 22, 2002 - WVU
Fan Speaks. "I think that this game needs to be played
but WVU does have a huge emotional attachment to not only PITT and
Maryland but Syracuse, Virginia Tech and Boston College. Even Miami
but not as much. Marshall would just add to the emotional games
our schedule is already full of. It would be a different kind of
excitement but still a great addition to both schedules. WVU needs
to cut out trips to Cincy when we could be building a traditional
in state rivalry with the Herd. Home and Home is fine with me. I
would like nothing more than to see Rasheed Marshall silence Marshall
crowd." Thanks to < Scott > for this opinion! Reply

Down... More to Go! "First the OSU game is announced and
then we get Bob Marcum as our new AD. I have a feeling that we're

Department this summer." Thanks to < Buffalo77 > for

Comment: May 21, 2002 - Silly
Chuck... Facts are for Kids! Do a little research dude!!!! The
last I heard, Louisiana Tech and LSU were in the same state.
"Because the LSU game appears shaky. One week, it looks like
a Marshall at LSU game will work. The next, there's talk of the
Cajuns needing out of the contract so they can play an in-state
opponent."
They already have an instate opponent (Louisiana Tech) scheduled
for 2003. Click

Between The Horns: May 14, 2002
- More C-USA Talk. Another great Editorial by Secret
Agent #70. "Well here we go again, C-USA this Southern Conference
that. It's almost sickening why a football team can't land a competitive
conference. I keep waiting for the beloved "NCAA Division I"
attendance rules to take affect, but I guess I'll just have to keep
waiting." Click here to read the
rest of the editorial.
Rumor: May 13, 2002 - More

"I can't stand being in the MAC!!!!!! I remember when we
joined in '97 and thinking to myself "I've never even heard
of half these teams". It's time to move on folks. We came,
we conquered. It's time to shoot for the stars (C-USA). Thanks to

Rumor: May 8, 2002 - Friday
it is... It seems that Ernie S. is verifying what we posted
back on April 17 (scroll down to see the original Rumor) found on
Lets-Go-Herd.com
started by "HerdMan" that started this "May should
be an exciting month. Spring a time of renewal. A time of fresh
starts. A time of beginning. A time of a new dawn. A new sunrise.
New.....and fresh. But, yet links to the past as well. A time of
announcements... a time for new starts." Click

Rumor: May 8, 2002 - OSU.
I found this on the WV GAGzette site "I like it,'' Pruett said.
"That may make me different, but I do. Plus, my approach every
year is to try and be better than the year before. That's why we
try and schedule good teams. There will be some breaking news on
that soon. Plus, we're ready to sign some really good teams to 2-for-1
deals. If everything goes through, that will be really good. We're
talking about two Tennessee-type caliber teams." Click
