February & March 2001

Opinion 3.21.2001 - Ok, its not that WVU won't play us, they just won't come to Huntington and play us. So why doesn't Bobby just take em up to Morgantown and beat em up there. They will never come to Huntington because they know they will get SMOKED. Thanks to HerdRumors reader < Brian Karlet >

3.5.2001 - Please sign the Online Petition to start a "home & home series" between Marshall University and West Virginia University

It is obvious that neither school is able to come to an agreement as WVU is putting themselves first, when they should be putting the state and the taxpayers first as we are the ones that contribute to their existence and without the state and the taxpayers of West Virginia, both schools surely would not be in the affluent positions that they are currently in. My tax dollars go to both schools and I want to see them play. If you feel the same, please sign this petition. This petition can be signed by anyone who wishes to see these two great schools play a "home and home" series, it doesn't matter what state you live in.

Here is the link to the Online Petition.

Thanks,

Reader Comment 3.4.2001 - Is WVU ducking MU? West Virginia University will play at Cincinnati in 2002 and the Bearcats will return the favor in 2003. Cincinnati, which plays at 35,000-seat Nippert Stadium, lost to Marshall, 25-14, in the 2000 Motor City Bowl. Thanks to a loyal HerdRumors reader for that contribution. Have a story, idea or opinion just let us know.

Comment 3.1.2001 - Opening in Big East! Temple has be ousted by the Big East for failing to meet conference requirements - "They have not, since 1996, fulfilled our criteria for membership," senior associate commissioner Thomas P. McElroy said Wednesday night during Boston College's basketball game against St. John's. Could this mean a MU vs WVU game afterall? Could this mean that the Herd has a chance to join the Big East? Let us know your opinion.

Comment 2.20.2001 - WVU Why Don't You? Ok, I'm tired of the crap from WVU not wanting to play the Herd. It's come down to the point where I say "Lets go ahead and play every game in Morgantown if that's what they want." If they want to get their butts kicked every year in front of their home crowd then lets give it to them, it's obvious that's what they want. Their thinking is this "We're going to get pounded no matter where we play them and it will hurt less if we don't have to make that 4 hour drive afterwards." Even the Morgantown paper wants a Herd - Eers game. Check out what the Dominion Post has to say about it. They have 4 or 5 articles about this whole fiasco. Let us know your opinion.
