Rumor: October 30, 2002 - Bowl
Hand-Me Downs. "Hey, I heard that in the next 2 to 3 years
the BCS is going to give either the Cotton or the Citris Bowl to
the highest ranking Non-BCS school. For instance, if the season
ended today and that was in place, Bowling Green would go to one
of the above bowls." Thanks to < MUThunder5@aol.com

Always Talkin' Bout the Herd. "I am not sure if anyone
heard Robin Roberts during the Miami vs. Pouties game on Saturday.
During the game the Marshall score was posted and she quickly pointed
out how bad the Poutie faithful hated the Herd. I thought it was
great that during their biggest moment in over a decade (the game
was very close at this point), ESPN decided to plug the herd!"

War of the States "You always hear about the state
of Florida having such great NCAA football, always having the stat
leaders and such. Well, I decided to compare that state of Florida
with the state of West Virginia by using the data from ESPN and
the US Census. Here are my results....

Curtis Jones. "I'm truly sorry that Curtis Jones has
suffered a season ending injury. I have to admit that Curtis is
one HERD player that I truly admire. Why? Because he didn't quit
when the going got tough. Some fans may only remember the botched
punt reception last year against Toledo. But Curtis, you didn't
get down on yourself, you hung in there, and you came back and did
a great job in 2002. And if football is about life, then persistence
is what life is all about. If you keep trying, you will find success.
Curtis, Good Luck in all future endeavors, we wish you well."

Curtis Jones. "I just wanted to say that in the middle
of all the confusion after the first play I knew exactly what was
going on. And it was not pretty. I was litteraly the closest person
to Curtis when he was injured because i had to move to get out of
the way. I know what kind of pain he went through i've been there,
but if my standing in the way and taking a hit from curtis would
have made a difference i would have. I wish i could have known what
was going to happen." Thanks to < woods38@marshall.edu

previously, you can cast
a vote for Firin' Byron. This is not just another poll. It is
an sanctioned tally where the fans can vote and the winner will
receive one official vote for the Heisman Trophy." Thanks to

The Buffalo Game. Well, there's really not much to say. I
will say that if I were Pruett I think I would have let Leftwich
play the 3rd quarter. Why you ask? Well, I guess I'm just mean spirited
and I would want to pad Lefty's numbers. BUT, if I really knew what
I was talking about I guess I would be the coach now wouldn't I?
Anywho, I did some research on UB, Why you ask? Well, I thought
it was weird that they only had about 55 band members and they brought
about 35 fans to the game. At half time my wife said she felt "sorry"
for Buffalo and I responded by saying... "they have 30,000
students" and she said... "I dont feel sorry for them
now." Me niether... thier student and fan support is pitiful.
By the way, here's
the info I found on the University AT Buffalo. Reply

Been Lazy. Hey everybody, I'd like to apologize for taking
so long to add all the great Opinions, Rumors and Comments. My excuse
is that I'm used to waking up at 7:00am and going to bed at 1:00am,
but my schedule has CHANGED, I'm now waking up at 5:00am and going
to bed at 10:00pm. So this new schedule has kinda thrown me outta
wack. So once again, I apologize and I hope to get back in the swing

even behind WVU's Cobourne. We need to get more voters and put him

New Conference? "The Marshall football team has come
a long way and stepped up to the occasion. Are we ready for a new
conference? I'm not sure. I know there have been some big games
scheduled for the future, but it would be great to see bigger names
almost every week. I just know that it's hard to get that excited
every week when we are playing the likes of Buffalo, Troy State,
and Central Michigan." Thanks to < Anonymous > for this

The Truth! "Hey, for what it's worth..., I've read in
yesterday's Gazette 'Mail Bag'that disgruntled WVU fans are so upset
with their loss to Maryland that they're calling for the school
to drop a division to 1-AA. I got an idea! Let's trade WVU conferences!
Going to the Big East, we could play a better schedule and gain
the respect we deserve while WVU could re-group in the MAC and be
very competitive in the league. Maybe then we could schedule WVU
for a game in order to "spice-up" their schedule. Hey,
it's a win-win situation for both. Being in the Big East, boy we
could really have our Herd-On! " Thanks to < Lee

The MAC. "Has anyone seen who Bowling Green has beat
this year? Well some fairly good teams, by this I mean Mizzu...I
mean hey they almost beat down OU last week! If you ask me Bowling
Green should be ranked in the top 25 in a week or so depending on
how many losses other teams in the top 25 have. I'm pulling hard
for these guys to get ranked...bottom line is that all MAC schools
get no RESPECT!---where almost equal to DII schools! Where would
Marshall be if we won at TECH??? Well we would be ranked probably
at 12 or so but thats probably the highest we would get all year
until the very end, by then maybe 9 if we went undefeated! However
we'd still be playing the same sh*tty teams and we'd get the same
sh*tty team in the GMAC bowl....and thats how it is when your in
the MAC!!! OK but we can't help that..so we need to worry about
our MAC schedule and thats that..........ROLL HeRD!!!" Thanks
